Selecting Fabric for a Garment

Using the right fabric for a project is one of the most important keys to sewing successful garments. It's easy to walk into a fabric store and be captivated by a beautiful, interesting, or fun piece of fabric, and then later realize that you don't know what to do with it, or whether it's appropriate for a particular project that you're thinking about making.

To help you take control of the process of selecting fabric while still letting yourself be wooed by the fabrics you find appealing, I have developed the following flow chart. It is an invaluable resource to take with you to the fabric store (please download a copy!) and it will help you make excellent fabric selections by helping you to consider all the factors involved in your decisions.
