January 24-26, 2025: You Choose Your Focus + Developing and Using a Croquis - near Sebastopol, CA - 1 Spot is available!
In addition to You Choose Your Focus format, we’ll spend an hour or so every day learning to make good use of a fashion croquis.
Why is a croquis helpful? A croquis of yourself helps you understand how to create a pleasing visual proportion on your figure. Plus, a croquis lets you see how different garment designs are going to look on your body. This means you can experiment with visual proportion and design before you work on fitting and constructing a garment, which helps you get to a garment you’ll be happy with more quickly.
If you think you can’t draw, don’t let that deter you from taking this class. You will receive a handout and lots of tips on how to put your ideas down on paper.
About two months before the class, we’ll email specific and easy-to-follow instructions for making a croquis, which is based on a photo of yourself. The process usually takes an hour or two. We'll also send you a short supply list.
Format for You Choose Your Focus - - Sometimes a class revolving around a particular topic is what you want. But when your questions and goals don't fit into a tidy category, this is the workshop for you! You choose your focus. I split my time amongst the participants (limited to 8), helping you with exactly what you want to learn and achieve. Please see below for a list of the types of things students frequently are interested in — with having me fit their mockups at the top of the list — as well as other details about the workshop.
