What students are saying…

“At her core, Sarah is a gifted and patient teacher. She draws on her decades of professional experience to share both simple and complex techinques: in sewing, fitting, and patternmaking, but also around proportion, perspective and silhouette. None of these are easy to teach, but she makes them accessible and explains their interrelation and how crucial they are for apparel development. As a result, I've made more progress in six months taking Sarah’s online classes and working one-on-one with her than I have after many years of working with apparel professionals and taking a two-year design program.”

“Sarah Veblen is an extraordinary teacher.  I have taken many of her on-line classes and her classes through Pattern Review. Her expertise and knowledge base of all aspects of garment sewing is impressive for sure, but what makes her classes especially valuable to me is her ability to explain the process and the techniques, to show us what she is explaining visually, to anticipate questions and to answer the additional ones her students pose in the most patient way, to convey the art in garment creation while stressing the fundamental basics underlying truly beautiful functional garments. Sarah is a gift. I love her classes!!”

“Sarah has changed my sewing from start to finish!

I initially attended one of Sarah’s workshops for help with fitting, and after working with Sarah, I realized how much more I could learn. Now, before I even start sewing I spend time sketching a new garment idea on my croquis so I can get an idea of how the finished garment will look on me. I have learned that pattern work is critical to sewing a successful garment, I now walk all the seam lines to correct any drafting errors and add my balance lines for fitting. Making lots of samples of interfacings and practicing techniques like buttonholes have also improved the final garment.

Working with Sarah has been an amazing experience!”

“Sarah is an extraordinary teacher and master fitter with a breadth of knowledge about pattern making, construction techniques, the idiosyncrasies of fabrics—basically anything pertaining to sewing and fashion. She is extremely observant and communicative, responding to questions with impressive detail and specificity. Her written instructions and video demonstrations provide real-world examples of issues a student may encounter. She does not hesitate to include mistakes she has made and explain how to correct them, which has proved invaluable to me.”
