Variations on a Jacket
All of these jackets are based on New Look 6619, which is out of print but still available with a google search. When fitting a mock-up of the jacket, I added a short front bust dart (often called a Dior dart), because the front seam of the side panel is several inches away from the bust apex, so not an actual princess seam. These photos show how I’ve used this as a master pattern, keeping the core of the jacket the same, and changing details such as the collar, cuffs, and front entry so each jacket looks unique.
